TESDA school in Romblon now offers a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT), a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-funded school in Romblon, is now offering a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology course.

During the Kapihan sa PIA Romblon on August 5, RNIT administrator Ana Castillo announced that students can take the three-year course in their institution.

“Students will study for three years at RNIT. Upon graduation, they will receive 16 national certificates and a daily allowance of P160 until they graduate,” Castillo explained.

RNIT is planning to collaborate with Romblon State University regarding the new program.

“We also plan to coordinate with RSU President Merian Mani and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at RSU so that students who wish to continue their education for a Bachelor’s degree can do so in their fourth year at RSU. However, if they choose not to, the 16 national certificates they receive will more than qualify them to apply for jobs,” Castillo explained.

She encouraged Romblomanons with a passion for machinery and technology to enroll in vocational and diploma courses offered by TESDA at Romblon Provincial Training Center or RNIT. She emphasized that these programs would provide significant advantages, making it easier for graduates to secure jobs quickly.

Aside from the Mechanical Engineering Technology course, Castillo told the press that RNIT is also planning to offer a 3-year diploma course related to tourism. This initiative is expected to boost the local economy by equipping students with skills tailored to Romblon’s growing tourism sector. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA- Romblon)
