CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – Mayor Henry Joel C. Teves recently led the ceremonial groundbreaking of the proposed Flood Control Mega Road Dike Project in Brgy. Tagumpay, Naujan.
The project will cover along the riverbanks of Brgys. San Andres, Tagumpay, and Inarawan.
According to Teves, the project will be the solution to the lingering problem of flooding of the residents of the communities during rainy seasons.
The project was made a reality through the constant coordination of the mayor with the national government, particularly the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Mimaropa.
It is now being undertaken by DPWH in partnership with the Municipal Engineering Office.
Teves said dikes provide a high degree of protection against flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Likewise, dikes force the river to flow more quickly and with greater force, thus saving the community and preventing more residents from large volumes of excess water coming from the river.
Brgy. San Andres Punong Barangay Domingo Limbo said that with the continuous help of the local government, the lives of his constituents will be safe through the construction of the mega road dike project in their barangay.
Moreover, Executive Assistant Jojo B. De Villa announced during the groundbreaking ceremony that the municipal government has also a plan of constructing a hospital in District 8, specifically in Brgy. Inarawan in order to provide the most or all of the healthcare services in the communities the local government serves. (LTC/PIA Mimaropa-OrMin)
