Tondo fire victims receive speedy aid from Speaker Romualdez’s Office

MANILA, (PIA) — The Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez has facilitated the release of P2.5 million in cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to help at least 125 families recently displaced by a fire in Manila.

The funds, provided through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, were distributed to the affected families over the weekend. Each family received P20,000 to aid in their recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Through the concerted efforts of the Office of Speaker Romualdez, Tingog Party-list and DSWD, we have mobilized immediate relief for the families devastated by the Tondo fire,” said House Deputy Secretary General Sofonias “Ponyong” Gabonada Jr.

In addition to the cash assistance, the Speaker’s office, along with Tingog Party-list Representatives Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre, chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs, also prepared 400 food packs for the victims of the June 16 fire in Barangay 58, Tondo.

Our priority is to provide immediate and meaningful assistance to those affected by this unfortunate incident,” Gabonada said.

By working together with DSWD and Congressman Ernesto ‘Ernix’ Dionisio Jr., we aim to alleviate the suffering of the fire victims and help them rebuild their lives as quickly as possible,” he added.
