Tourist arrivals in Panglao surge in 1st quarter of 2025

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — The first quarter of 2025 showed a high number of tourist arrivals in the island of Panglao, especially in foreign tourist arrivals.

Based on data from the Panglao Municipal Tourism Office, in the first quarter of this year, February 2025 recorded a notable peak of 70,458 guests.

The month of January recorded the arrival of 65,983 guests, while March logged 55,431.

Panglao tourism officer Leonides Senica said this is possibly due to events, long weekends, and the town’s improved promotional activities.

Although the total arrivals in the first three months of this year appear slightly lower than the same period in 2024, Senica said that the 2025 data is partial and still being collected.

Overall guest arrivals in the first quarter of 2024 totaled 205,981, while partial guest arrivals in the same quarter of 2025 have now reached 191,872.

Senica is confident that the final tally is expected to surpass the current total, especially once full submissions are received from accommodation establishments.

“The data for 2025 is partial and still subject to increase as more reports are collected,” Senica clarified.

Data also shows a notable 7.3 percent increase of foreign arrivals (non-Philippine residents) from 102,757 in 2024 to 110,253 in the first quarter of 2025.

Senica said this indicates a stronger international market interest or enhanced accessibility.

According to Senica, this upward trend, especially among foreign markets, may reflect the positive impact of ongoing tourism promotions and improving global travel conditions.

The island’s top 10 foreign markets for the first quarter of 2025 are Korea (13,473), China (1,736), Taiwan (1,396), United States of America (1,622), France (1,122), Germany (823), Poland (742), Russia (728), Spain (617), and Japan (692). (ECB/PIA7-Bohol)
