‘Trabaho para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ job fair brings employment opportunities in the countryside

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized to Oriental Negrenses that the government’s “Trabaho Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” program is part of the national government’s goal to create employment opportunities for people in the countryside.

“Ginagawa po lahat ng inyong pamahalaan upang mabigyan ng tulong ang mga nangangailangan ng tulong. Ang mga nahihirapan makahanap ng trabaho ay tinutulungan din po natin upang makahanap ng magandang trabaho. Hindi lang po ito dito sa Dumaguete. Ginagawa po namin ito sa buong Pilipinas,” said President Marcos during the job fair held at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center.

(The government is doing its best to help the people. We provide interventions to assist those who find it hard to get a job become employed. We are not only doing this in Dumaguete but across the Philippines.)

The President was in Dumaguete City to observe the “Trabaho Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” job fair organized by the Office of the President (OP) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

A total of 2,700 job vacancies offered by 14 local and overseas companies were available to job applicants on that day.

The job fair was intended for members of graduating or “exiting” household-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of DSWD in Negros Oriental.

Although the beneficiaries are already “economically self-sufficient,” President Marcos noted that they still need government’s help in job matching to ensure that they can sustain their economic status.

“Kailangan pa rin magkaroon ng trabaho. Kaya po mayroon din tayong job fair. Ito po ay pinagma-match po natin lahat ng mga aplikante doon sa mga trabaho na bagay sa kanila, na bagay sa kanilang kakayahan,” he said.

(They need jobs that is why we are having this job fair. We want to match them with the right job that is suited with their skills.)

DSWD records show there were 32 job seekers who were hired on the spot during the Trabaho Para sa Bagong Pilipinas Job Fair, while DOLE said there were 23 job seekers who found jobs though the department’s government internship program.

“Iyong iba nga pagpasok ko mayroong – may isang grupo nakasuot na ng t-shirt na “HOTS”. Ibig sabihin “hired on the spot.” Ibig sabihin mayroon na rito nakakuha na ng trabaho. Congratulations sa inyo!,” President Marcos said.

(As I entered the venue, I saw a group of people wearing “HOTS.” Which means there were people who found jobs here. Congratulations to all of you!)

The President was accompanied by DSWD Sec. Rex Gatchalian and DOLE Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma during his visit.

President Marcos also checked the fresh farm produce sold at the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Agri-fair, which sold rice at P29 per kilo.

The Kadiwa Agri-Fair was set up to bring affordable food items to people participating in the job fair. (RAL/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
