CITY OF CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — A total of 30 participants from different regional offices and academe from the MIMAROPA region joined the three-day training course on Data Visualization using Infographics, which started May 9 and will end May 11, 2023.
The activity was led by the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Maria Praxedes Peña.
Through this course, the participants will learn the art and science of data storytelling, and weaving insightful narratives from statistics.
Also present in the training is Philippine Statistics Authority RSSO Mimaropa Regional Director Leni Rioflorido.
According to Rioflorido, activities such as this, is essential in learning the importance of good storytelling by using data.
On the other hand, Peña emphasized the need to bring to fruition the training course on Data Visualization Using Infographics in the MIMAROPA Region as it will help the participants in crafting useful data infographics.
She added that these data infographics will be beneficial in spreading needed information that will contribute to proactive citizenship by their audience.
Peña shared with the participants the need for capacitating various agencies and local government through these trainings.
She also noted that data visualization using infographics is a simpler way of conveying essential information that is critical in crafting programs and policies. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA)
