Transport coop to launch public utility vehicles in Naujan

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The Naujan Transport Cooperative (NATSCO) is set to launch the 20 Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG)-compliant public utility jeepneys in the town of Naujan on January 27, 2023.

This is part of the nationwide continuous Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) whose mission is to ensure the commuting public has adequate, safe, convenient, environment-friendly and dependable public land transportation services at reasonable rates through the implementation of land-based transportation policies, programs, and projects responsive to an investment-led and demand-driven industry.

Said vehicles will have their regular routes from Poblacion, Naujan to Calapan City and vice versa.

According to LTFRB’s PUV Modernization Program, the project is a response to address both the aggravating transport-related problems and the future transportation demand of people in the community.  Using modern transportation, the commuting public would experience a more dignified, humane, and safe journey.

Moreover, the program aims to ensure the welfare of drivers and operators to have regular, sufficient, and dignified livelihoods while ensuring the safety of passengers towards their respective destinations.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
