Tree-cutting permit now available online in Cordillera

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) –The process of securing tree cutting permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Cordillera Region is now faster and more accessible with its “E-Frontline Services”.

With just a click of a button be it mobile app or the webpage, one may now apply for a tree cutting permit.

DENR CAR Regional Executive Director Engr. Ralph Pablo led the synchronized launching of the first electronic service on permitting of the office on December 11.

Pablo lauded the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices for adopting this digital program in their areas, which is a significant step forward in their commitment to sustainable environment responsible resource utilization.

“I congratulate everyone for adopting this program and making use of information and communications technology in transforming our services to become faster and more accessible,” Pablo said.

“This is in support to the call of the President in digitalizing our services, and we must sustain promoting environmental responsibility by enhancing our client services,” he added.

Pablo acknowledged the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of Lagangilang, Abra through Forester Mark Elizer Bragas for initiating this e-service.

The digital permitting program eliminates the hassle of submitting papers to the nearest DENR office as it can now be done remotely and online. Clients can now scan and send the complete requirements through the mobile app of the webpage and wait for a notification if the permit is r available for claiming.

In an interview with Marlu Pacleba from Pidigan Central School, one of the first clients of the digital permitting, he said this is beneficial for everyone because it is now easier to submit the applications without going to the DENR office personally.

“Mas madali nang magsubmit ngayon ng mga requirements kasi pwede na online, di na kailangang pumunta sa DENR office para mag submit ng application then babalik ka pa ulit para kunin yung permit [It’s easier to submit requirements now because it’s online, there’s no need to go to the DENR office to submit the application then go back to get the permit],” he said.

Individuals who wish to personally submit their application for tree cutting at DENR offices may still do so.

As DENR-CAR enhances its e-frontline services, it will soon integrate an online process for chainsaw registration and application for transport permits of forest products. (JDP/CAGT-PIA Abra)
