Tripartite council formed to boost Quirino province’s tourism

CABARROGUIS, Quirino — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Office of Quirino province, recently established the province’s Tourism Tripartite Council to strengthen the area’s tourism sector.

At least 20 employers and personnel in the tourism industry gathered for a general assembly to establish the council as a platform for collaboration, promoting industrial harmony, and addressing tourism-related concerns.

“Quirino’s top tourism destinations, such as  Governor’s Rapids, Nagtipunan Falls, and Siitan River provide jobs and livelihoods for locals. The Council aims to improve these attractions by addressing labor concerns, enhancing working conditions, and fostering cooperation between employers and employees,” said DOLE Quirino Head Froctoso Agustin and council chair.

He emphasized that the new council will help boost the province’s tourism, benefit the local economy, and empower tourism establishments such as resorts, restaurants, hotels, homestays, and transients.

Alongside Agustin who represented the government sector in the tripartite council were Quirino’s Chief Tourism Operations Officer Aurea Martinez, Provincial PESO Manager Daniphine Badua, Quirino Furniture Industry Tripartite Council Vice Chair Alberto Cadaviz, and DOLE Senior Labor, and Employment Officer Onofre James Mendoza.

During the assembly, Mendoza led the discussion on social dialogue and tripartism, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among government, employers, and workers to create a resilient tourism sector.

“Tripartism benefits all parties by addressing challenges through collective action,” Mendoza said.

Governor Dakila Carlo Cua was also elected as the council’s co-chair from the government sector while Marites Tutaan, owner of Ohana’s Place, was elected vice chair for the employer’s group, and Mharvie Abello, from Sam’s Mountain View Resort, was elected vice chair for the labor group.
