Tubod media information office personnel gain insights on journalism

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) — Personnel from the Media Information Office (MIO) here underwent a training workshop on journalism that will aid them in disseminating information about their respective local government unit’s (LGU) services and programs to their constituents.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Iligan Lanao del Norte Information Center facilitated the workshop, which the LGU Tubod organized.

PIA Iligan-Lanao del Norte Provincial Information Center Manager Lou Ellen Antonio discussed the fundamentals of journalism, news gathering and production techniques, English news writing, and digital media production, while Multimedia Aide Angelo Dologmandin discussed basic photography and videography. Meanwhile, Michael Navarro of Mindanao News Express shared his expertise in writing Bisaya news.

The workshop provided an immersive learning experience as the participants provided media coverage for the events of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Bureau of Fire Protection. This enabled them to immediately apply their newfound knowledge in the field of media coverage. Constructive critiques accompanied the practical sessions to ensure skill improvement and refinement.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the insights and knowledge they gained from the workshop.

Patrick John Enopia, the MIO head, shared the challenges of managing a team and addressing various issues. Hence, he is grateful for the training and hopes that it will enhance their work in informing their constituents about the LGU’s initiatives.

“Isip technical staff sa among opisina, dako kaayo jud hagit sa akong kaugalingon nga mangulo og usa ka opisina nga gi-compsoe og daghang miyembro. Pero kana siya nga mga challenges, akoa na siya gihatagan og relibo para maaddress pinaagi niining training,” he said.  

(As a member of the technical staff in our office, I face  significant challenges in leading an office composed of many members. However, I have been given relief through this training to address these challenges.)

Meanwhile, Ronil Pepito, a writer and radio broadcaster, emphasized the practical applicability of the learnings from the workshop.  

“Mapasalamaton kaayo ko sa PIA, nga nag-conduct og usa ka bulawanong  training. Daghan kaayo mi nakat-otanan. Dili namo makalimutan, so far karon pa mi naka-try ani nga training,” he said.  

(I am deeply grateful to PIA for conducting a valuable training session. We have learned a lot. We will never forget it. So far, this is the first training we have ever attended.)

Moreover, Mark Joseph Albaro, who is a ledwall operator, said he gained valuable insights into photography techniques, including proper picture composition, adjusting brightness, video angles, and managing backgrounds to prevent blurs.

Teresita Abapo, a writer and radio broadcaster, also expressed gratitude for the training, which will be helpful in their daily coverage and in creating news that is beneficial to the community. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
