CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – Two malls in Central Visayas have been designated as polling precincts for the 2025 midterm elections.

The malls designated as voting sites are Robinsons Galleria in Cebu City and SM Consolacion.

This will be the second time for registered voters in Cebu to cast their ballots inside a mall, with the first during the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

In Cebu City, Barangay Parian has been identified for mall voting at the Robinsons Galleria, while Barangay Pitogo in Consolacion has been chosen for SM Consolacion.

“Barangay Parian was chosen among the Cebu City barangays because it is near the mall,” said Comelec Cebu City North District Election Officer Ambongan Abilar.

Abilar said three clustered precincts in Barangay Parian totaling to 2,100 voters have been assigned to vote at Robinsons Galleria.

On April 15, Comelec conducted a voter education session attended by 50 Barangay Parian residents who will cast their votes at Robinsons Galleria.

After the orientation, the participants were given the opportunity to check their actual voting precincts inside the mall.

One of the participants, Teresita Jumao-as, said voting inside the mall will help the vulnerable members of their community.

“Makatabang gyud kaayo og dako ang pagvote sa mall especially sa kadtong mga buntis, senior citizens, PWD kay convenient kaayo para nila og sa ubang mga residents unya accessible pod kaau kay dali ra ang transportation,” said Jumao-as,

(Mall voting is a big help especially for pregnant women, senior citizens, and Persons with Disabilities because it is very convenient and accessible.)

Abilar said pregnant women, senior citizens, and PWDs are given the privilege to vote early from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m to avoid crowds. (HFG/PIA7)
