MANILA (PIA) — The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) or the Commission on the Filipino Language (CFL) will confer the prestigious Dangal ng Wikang Filipino (Honor of the Filipino Language) 2024 award to two esteemed academics: Dr. Raquel E. Sison-Buban and Dr. Dolores R. Taylan.
Dr. Buban is an educator, translator, researcher, interviewer, writer, and language advocate. She has delivered various lectures and interviews at different academic institutions, covering topics such as the following:
Espesyal na Maikling Kurso ng Pagsasalin (Special Short Course on Translation);
- Pagbasag sa mga Mito ng Pagsasalin at Pagsasalin ng Metapora (Debunking Translation Myths and Translating Metaphors);
- Pagbuo ng Programa para sa Pagsasanay sa Pagsasalin: Estado, Proseso at Disenyo (Developing a Translation Training Program: Status, Process, and Design);
- Isyu, Bugso, at Direksiyon ng/sa Pagsasalin sa Ika-21 Siglong Edukasyon (Issues, Trends, and Directions in/of Translation in 21st Century Education);
- Lipat, Danas, and Lapat: Praktika at Estratehiya sa Pagsasaling Teknikal (Shift, Experience, Fit: Practices and Strategies in Technical Translation); and
- Mga Teorya at Praktika sa Pagsasalin (Theories and Practices in Translation)

Dr. Taylan, on the other hand, is a pillar of the Department of Filipino at De La Salle University, championing the promotion and development of the Filipino language.
With over two decades of university teaching experience, she has demonstrated her dedication and advocacy in helping Lasallian students understand the importance and power of the Filipino language in social transformation.
She has made significant contributions to the intellectualization of the Filipino language nationwide.
She is actively involved in various national organizations, such as the Propesyonal na Asosasyon ng mga Tagasalin at Tagapagtaguyod ng Salin (PATAS) and the Pambansang Samahán ng mga Dalubguro (PASADO).
She also serves as the Managing Editor of Malay, an international refereed and abstracted journal on Philippine Studies and the most-visited academic journal in the Philippine E-Journals.
According to KWF, the Dangal ng Wikang Filipino Award recognizes individuals who have championed, developed, and promoted the national language.
This prestigious honor is bestowed only on select individuals who have made exceptional contributions to society, elevating the Filipino language in various domains, including but not limited to science and technology, law, education, engineering, philanthropy, business, governance, the armed forces, the arts, and international relations.
