Typhoon Pepito to exit PAR this morning – PAGASA

MANILA, (PIA) — Typhoon Pepito is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning or early afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

As of the 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the storm was last tracked 145 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts reaching up to 160 km/h. The typhoon is moving northwest at a speed of 30 km/h.

Despite its movement into the West Philippine Sea, Pagasa warns that heavy rains and gusty winds will still affect much of Northern Luzon, as well as parts of Central Luzon, due to the storm’s rainbands.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals remain in effect for several areas in Luzon.

In light of the ongoing conditions, Pagasa has advised the public to avoid water activities in La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Isabela, Zambales, and Aurora, where there is a moderate to high risk of storm surge.

The weather bureau continues to urge the public to stay alert for any changes in weather conditions. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
