BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The University of Baguio (UB) kicked off its  75th Foundation Anniversary in August 2023 with a  kapihan  on  Wednesday (Feb. 8).

University President Javier Herminio Bautista said this year’s celebration will be the continuation and rebirth of the activities that stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Celebrating 75 years of  the legacy of  Tatay  Fernando and Nanay Rosa Bautista, the  anniversary celebration will highlight the conduct of extension and community outreach activities.

“Because we are celebrating a birthday, it’s not just about coming out in nice clothes, it’s really having a party for the community and we’ve tried to come up with some programs to celebrate the fact that we are part of Baguio City,” Bautista stated during the Kapihan sa Baguio.

He also underlined the resilience of the university with the help of the community.

“We grasp on the word resilience and it’s very fitting to have that for 75 years. It wasn’t done alone, this is a community effort. The University of Baguio thrived during the pandemic because of the community that was sewn into the fabric of the University of Baguio. We’re very proud of that,” Bautista underscored.

Vice President  Janice Kaylyn  highlighted the quality education that the University has been providing through the years producing sanitary engineers, electrical engineers, criminologists, nurses,  dentists, among other professionals.

Full blown activities of the university  will be in  August 2023 until 2024.

The University will also commence the Search for Outstanding Alumni and awardees  who will be recognized during the Red and White Gala on September 9.

Founded on August 8, 1948, the UB aims to educate individuals to be empowered professionals in a global community.  From its humble beginnings as the Baguio Technical and Commercial Institute popularly known as Baguio Tech, the University of Baguio has expanded and has become one of the reputable higher institutions in CAR.
