CATARMAN, Northern Samar — A student from the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) bagged the first place during the Philippine Statistics quiz provincial elimination held at the Ephine’s Food Hauzon on September 29.
Euffy Anthony Bantilo, a first year college student taking up Electrical Engineering, bested 24 other students from different schools for a 3-round bout test, at 10 items per round.
The other winners were Genieveb Lluz from UEP-PRMC (Catubig) for the second place, and Niza Narca of UEP College of Science for the third place.
The three winners will compete in the regional elimination.
Julian Gallano, provincial statistics specialist, said the PSQ is conducted annually to make every Filipino citizen be aware of the importance of statistics in daily lives.
“PSA now is in the age of delivering quality statistics, efficient civil registration, and inclusive identification system. The Philippine Statistics Quiz is in line with the observance of National Statistics Month with this year’s theme, Quality Service through Digital Transformation,” Gallano said.
Gallano extended his gratitude to PIA, PPDO, and the Provincial Engineering Office who served as judges and all the students, coaches and schools who heeded to his call to participate in the competition. (MMP/ADiaz/PIA Northern Samar)
