Unveiling women’s influence in Eastern Visayas tourism

The Department of Tourism in Eastern Visayas, in collaboration with Robinsons Tacloban, spearheaded an event on March 8 that showcased women’s diverse talents in line with the Women’s Month celebration.

The event aimed to showcase various visual artists, designers, craft producers, literary writers, and culinary experts, among others, and how their artistry shapes the region’s tourism industry.

It was anchored with the theme: “TrailblazHer: Igniting Paths, Inspiring Futures.”

Recognizing efforts

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco acknowledged the efforts of women in shaping the tourism industry.

She emphasized that the DOT is dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities, fostering an environment for women to thrive, transcend, and flourish, elevating the overall Philippine experience, and transforming the tourism landscape.

Karina Rosa S. Tiopes, the Regional Director of DOT in Eastern Visayas, emphasized the significance of including women in the tourism industry.

She highlighted that most of the tourism industry’s frontliners, enablers, and leaders are women. She believed that although women are often stereotyped in the industry, they can shine and make a significant impact.

She also acknowledged the invaluable support of women in the tourism, arts, and creative industries, recognizing their talents, perseverance, and innovation.
