Cebu City, Philippines – The University of the Philippines Cebu is now calling for nominations for its next Chancellor. In line with Administrative Order PAJ 25-22, the University has launched the search process, calling on qualified individuals to lead UP Cebu in its next phase of academic
and institutional growth.
The selection process follows the amended timetable:
● Deadline for Nomination Submission: March 14, 2025 (Friday)
● Tentative Date for Public Forum: March 17, 2025 (Monday)
● Submission of Search Committee Report: April 14, 2025 (Monday)
● Board of Regents Meeting for Selection of Chancellor: April 24, 2025 (Thursday)
Nomination Process for the Chancellorship
A. Who Can Be Nominated?
The next UP Cebu Chancellor must meet the following criteria:
1. 2. Commitment to academic freedom and the values and ideals of the University Distinction in the nominee’s chosen field of expertise coupled with a generalist view and an appreciation of other disciplines
3. 4. 6. 7. Filipino citizen with a strong nationalist commitment
Demonstrated observance of the principles of collegiality and the democratic process
5. Unquestionable moral integrity
Academic leadership and administrative skill
Willingness to serve as Chancellor on a full-time basis and for the full term of three years
B. Who may nominate
Any person or group in or outside the University is encouraged to submit a nomination.
C. Nomination papers to be submitted
A complete set of nomination papers must include:
● A nomination letter specifying the reasons or justifications for the nomination (indicating how the nominee meets the qualifications specified above) and bearing the printed name(s) and signature(s) of the nominator(s)
● Two clear copies of the nominee’s curriculum vitae and a one- or two-page summary thereof.
