MANILA, (PIA) — The University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI) has unveiled its UP National Operational Assessment of Hazards (NOAH) website, designed to help the public identify potential hazards and disasters in their areas.
The NOAH website provides critical information on possible risks such as flooding, storm surges, and landslides resulting from rainfall.
This data is primarily based on flood simulations, historical records, and satellite imagery.
In addition to hazard information, the website also highlights safe locations for the public to seek refuge during emergencies.
The initiative aims to support the government’s efforts in disaster risk reduction and management, address climate change challenges, and mitigate the impacts of disasters.
For residents wanting to assess the safety of their area, they can visit the UP NOAH website at https://noah.up.edu.ph/know-your-hazards and enter their location in the search bar for detailed information. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
