MANILA, (PIA) — Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian has formed a Task Force to focus on the implementation of the price ceiling on rice in Valenzuela City.

This follows the mayor’s meeting with market masters and business owners to get their views on the said rice price setting.

They were also briefed on the guidelines for the implementation of the directive which began on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

According to Gatchalian, the said task force will check on whether retailers are able to implement the price ceiling of P41.00 to P45.00.

The mayor further said that he fully supports the government’s initiative to protect vendors and consumers from price fraud and illegal rice trading.

Meanwhile, the Navotas City Agriculture Office and Business Permits and Licensing Office are also focused on the implementation of Executive Order No. 39 in the city.

The purpose of the monitoring is to ensure that the price cap of rice stores in Navotas City is followed.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco first met with the Local Price Coordinating Council with rice retailers to discuss the EO, as well as their opinion and convey it to the relevant government agency. (PIA-NCR)
