VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – All 39 barangays in this city have received the community service vehicles given by the city government through its disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) fund.
Six barangays namely, Mindoro, Baracca, Paoa, Pantay Laud, Pantay Daya, San Pedro, and Barangay III were the last to receive their service vehicles on December 2 before the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree in front of the City Hall.
Each vehicle is equipped with first aid kits and an oxygen tank, according to the city DRRM office in an interview on December 5.
Benjamin Ablog, punong barangay of Barangay Mindoro, thanked the city government for its unending support to the barangays.
“Dios unay ti agngina ti city government, dadaulo ni Mayor Bonito Singson ta adda intedna ti kada barangay a community service vehicle ta pagsiaatan dagitoy ta adda oxygen-na, first aid, ta no adda emergency iti rabii kas high blood ken agsaksakit ket adda mausar pangitaray kaniada iti ospital (We are beyond grateful to the city government, led by Mayor Bonito Singson, for this community service vehicle. This will be helpful for the community as it is equipped with an oxygen tank and first aid kit, which is essential especially when somebody suffers an emergency health situation like high blood or any illness, we’ll be able to help send them to the hospital right away.),” Ablog said.
He added that the vehicle can fit up to 8 to 10 people, which is more convenient.

Before the awarding of community service vehicles, the launching and blessing of the newly installed LED information board of the city government located beside the Provincial Library was also held.
