CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) — Beneficiaries of the farm-to-market road (FMR) projects implemented under the Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-BDP) have expressed gratitude to the government for the projects saying that these will further improve the economy of their barangays.
In the recently concluded inspection and evaluation conducted by the Provincial Inspectorate Team (PIT), residents and passersby who were asked how they feel about the projects, said it is now easier for them to bring their produce to the market and damages during transport have been lessened.
Aling Nora, a vegetable and corn farmer of Dissimungal, Nagtipunan shared how their vegetable and corn produce would get damaged because of the long travel time to the market, usually by carrying them especially during rainy days.
“Now, we don’t have to worry because buyers can already reach our place and we can already sell our products at higher prices,” she said.
Furthermore, Juanito Esto, a church leader of San Martin, Maddela said he had experienced hiking for several hours just to reach the barangay because there were only few passenger jeepneys in the area due to the poor condition of the roads.
The Provincial Inspectorate Team headed by the DILG inspected the completed Farm-to-Market Road projects at barangays Dissimungal, Nagtipunan and San Martin, Maddela. The activity aimed to verify the project’s compliance to national standards.
“I never thought that this remote barangay will improve this way and this is because of the improvement of the roads,” Esto said.
Meanwhile both Barangay Captains Gaspar Cablinan Dissimungal, Nagtipunan and Walter Quillagen of San Martin, Maddela thanked the government for the road projects as they appealed for more road improvement projects for their barangays.
The said barangays were among the beneficiaries of the LGSF-BDP, a a flagship program which was conceptualized to finally address insurgency by bringing sustainable solutions and basic services to communities in need.
Other projects inspected were: Concreting of Farm to Market Road at Beynardo St., Purok 5, Sto. Niño, Maddela with a total cost of 2,000,000.00 and length of 173meter; Concreting of FMR at Purok 1, Sangbay, Nagtipunan,with a project allocation of 2,000,000.00 and length of 172meters; Concreting of FMR at Brgy. Tucod, Cabarroguis with project allocation of 4,000,000.00 and concreting of FMR at Brgy. Dingasan, Cabarroguis with a project allocation of 4,000,000.00 and length of 120 meters. (TCB/PIA Quirino)
