Virac suspends classes in all levels due to heavy rains

VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA) – Virac Mayor Samuel V. Laynes issued a Memorandum suspending classes in all levels in public and private schools in the municipality of Virac today, January 13, 2023 amid heavy rains.

As per the weather bulletin issued by Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) today at 5 a.m., the low-pressure area was estimated based on all available data at 140 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur as of 3 a.m. today.

Pagasa added that cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the province of Catanduanes.

Hence, to ensure the safety of all concerned, Mayor Laynes issued localized suspension of classes from pre-school to Tertiary Level until lifted.

Meanwhile, San Andres Mayor Leo Z. Mendoza has already announced suspension of classes in San Andres with formal memorandum to follow. (PIA-5/Catanduanes)
