United Nations Special Rapporteur Irene Khan conducted a dialogue with the officials of the Philippine Information Agency, Philippine News Agency, and Presidential Broadcasting Services on January 30, 2024, at the PIA Central Office in Diliman, Quezon City.
Fruitful discussions were held on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of expression and opinion in the country. Khan also expressed support for the government’s campaign against disinformation and misinformation.
The visit of Khan to the government information agency signifies the continuous efforts to uphold the highest standards of journalism and development communication in disseminating relevant, timely, and accurate information on policies, activities, and programs of the government at the grassroots level.
