AMBAGUIO, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — Farmers in this upland municipality are set to benefit from a more efficient road network, which will significantly improve the transportation of their products to the market.
The 10.6-kilometer Ammoweg-Camandag Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) is now 94.47 percent complete, according to the Department of Agriculture – Project Support Office Technical Team, who recently conducted an inspection of the project in collaboration with the local government unit.
The inspection was part of the project’s 10th-progress billing, highlighting its steady advancement.
This P203.8-million infrastructure initiative aims to support the municipality’s growing tomato industry, easing the transportation of produce for farmers. Once completed, the road will reduce transportation costs for farmers, helping them become more competitive in the marketplace.
The FMR project will also benefit farmers from other areas in Ambaguio, as it will link the barangays of Ammoweg, Napo, and Camandag. This connectivity is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and support broader rural development.
Ambaguio Mayor Ronelio Danao emphasized the importance of the project, saying it would help unlock the agricultural potential of the town.
“With the completion of this project, our farmers will be encouraged to pursue upland agriculture more actively, providing them with a stable income source and contributing to their overall economic advancement,” Mayor Danao said.
He also thanked the Department of Agriculture (DA) for funding the project, noting that it will stimulate more economic activities and improve the livelihood of local farmers.
The barangays of Ammoweg, Napo, and Camandag are classified as Geographically Isolated and Depressed Areas (GIDAs) by the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, making this project an essential part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and promote peace and development in these underserved regions.
