CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – – Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte announced four initiatives of the department aimed at improving the lives and welfare of the teachers.
The current agenda presented are the review on the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers for updating proposal to the Congress, the ongoing talks with the Department of Health for free medical checkupfor teachers, monthly coordination meeting with the Government Service Insurance System to organize accounts of teaching and non-teaching personnel, and establishment of a group of lawyers to assist teachers in their loan applications.
“Inilahad ko rin ang kasalukuyang ginagawa ng DepEd sa pag u-update ng batas na Magna Carta for Public School Teachers, ang pakikipag-usap sa Department of Health sa panawagan ng ating mga guro sa libreng medical check-up, pakikipag-ugnayan sa Government Service Insurance System para sa mga benepisyo ng ating mga guro, at ang koordinasyon ng DepEd sa iba’t ibang grupo ng mga abogado para sa pagbigay ng free legal advice para sa mga teaching and non-teaching staff ng Department of Education,” the VP said.
The department is also collaborating with all local government units and the private sectors for the repair and building of new classrooms as well as support in the institutionalization of the blended learning program, she added.
