Weapons cache recovered in joint effort to dismantle Guerilla Front Sendong

ALORAN, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)–Former members of the weakened Guerilla Front Sendong, who recently surrendered, have provided crucial information about the firearms and ammunition depots. Acting on these disclosures, the 10th Infantry Battalion (10IB) successfully retrieved a cache of hidden weapons in Sitio Esperanza, Barangay Manamong, Aloran, Misamis Occidental.

The retrieved arms cache contained various weapons and munitions, posing a substantial threat to the safety and security of the local community.

LTC Jose André Monje (INF) GSC PA, the commanding officer of the 10IB, is resolutely committed to dismantling the weakened Guerilla Front Sendong. He emphasized, “Our focused military operations are dedicated to neutralizing the armed group’s capacity for violence, paving the way for the long-awaited peace and development in Misamis Occidental.”

BGen. Elmer Suderio, the commander of the 102nd Infantry Brigade, has affirmed his dedication to achieving peace in the Zamboanga Peninsula, declaring, “Our endeavors will yield outcomes that benefit the entire region, promoting inclusivity and harmony.”

Moreover, Gen. Gabriel C. Viray III, who leads the Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN, underscored the importance of military operations within the broader framework of regional security. He remarked, “The discovery of this hidden arms cache deals a significant blow to those attempting to undermine peace and stability. We will persist in our unwavering efforts to safeguard the well-being and prosperity of our communities in northern Mindanao.”
