COTABATO CITY (PIA) — The Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) has expressed again its full support to the Bangsamoro government in line with the implementation of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, as well as the sustainability of peace in the region.
In the recent PIA Talakayang Dose radio program of the Philippine Information Agency XII, Datumanong Ebil, program manager of the WFD Bangsamoro, emphasized that the second year of the WFD’s program in the Bangsamoro Government will be more calibrated.
“Sa year 2, ang focus ay same pa rin pero calibrated na siya. Ang programa ng WFD ay until 2025 and every year nagbabago yung design based sa development ng project,” Ebil said.
The WFD’s core programs are focused on women, civil society organizations, parliament, and political parties.
For its second fiscal year in the Bangsamoro Region, Ebil said the activities of the WFD will include training of the lower-ranked personnel following the training of the directors and chiefs of the legislative offices and review of the remaining priority codes to be enacted. Also included in the WFD calendar of activities is the escalation of the newly launched CSO playbook.
“For women political leaders, we will continue reaching out to concerned agencies to address women’s concerns while for political parties, we have already started last fiscal year the efforts in the formulation of training designs for each political party,” Ebil stated.
He assured the Bangsamoro people that the WFD is an active partner of the Bangsamoro government in building a better institution of a parliamentary system of government.
The Westminster Foundation for Democracy is a UK public body dedicated to supporting democracy around the world. Through the UK government’s Conflict, Security and Stability program, the WFD started its operations in the Bangsamoro government in 2020 to track the implementation of the peace process and the Bangsamoro Organic Law as well as the establishment of the BARMM government.
