Winners of the 2024 Salinlahi Evolution Competition announced

MANILA — It was a celebration of science and technology through app development as the Philippine Science Heritage Center (PSHC), under the management of the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), announced the winners of the Salinlahi Evolution Competition during the 2024 National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival (NYSTIF) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Tent on Tuesday, September 19.

Salinlahi Evolution, an app development competition, aims to encourage the youth to produce mobile learning applications anchored in science and technology. Since 2014, the PSHC and its partner institutions have been conducting the Salinlahi Evolution Competition educating society on the role of advancing technology and utilizing mobile applications in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Gamification”.
 
Distinguished guests, including Academician Jaime Montoya, President of NAST PHL, Dr. Lawrence Tan, President and CEO of PAEC, and Ms. Luningning Samarita-Domingo, Director IV of NAST PHL, graced the awarding ceremony with their encouraging messages and warm congratulations.

Technolikha group from the Philippine Science High School Cordillera Administrative Region Campus won the grand prize with “Telling Science Top Down”, a narrative-driven survival simulation game set in a post-apocalyptic world struggling with ecological collapse. The game features various SDGs such as Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life Below Water (SDG 14), and Life on Land (SDG 15).

The V²EN Tech group from Valencia National High School won the second prize with its game called “Rebuild”. The BACONater group from the Philippine Science High School – Cordillera Administrative Region Campus and the BUZZ-IO group from Muntinlupa Science High School won the third prize with FinQuest and BUZZ-IO, respectively.
