Zambo city gears up for Women’s Month 2023

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb 8 (PIA) — The city of Zamboanga, through its Gender and Development (GAD) office, is now preparing for the grandest city-wide activities for Women’s Month 2023 in March.

During the 1st quarter GAD Focal Point System Council Meeting, a core group has been created to focus on the preparations for this year’s celebration.

The activities proposed for the celebration includes the Marcha de las Mujeres, technical and livelihood training for women by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), an info-drive session with media stations, women’s exposition or exhibit featuring products of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Job Fair in collaboration with the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) and Public Employment Service Office (PESO), hanging of commitment tarpaulin per office and barangay, observance of Purple Fridays, Legal and Health Services with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and City Health Office (CHO), Digital Innovation for Women’s Advancement (DIWA) and the live streaming of activities.

The 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration marks a new phase in the advancement of women’s rights by introducing a new recurring theme that will run from this year to 2028: WE for gender equality and inclusive society.  WE stand for Women and Everyone emphasizing the role of women themselves and everyone in the pursuit of gender equality.

Zamboanga City’s GAD office is grateful for the huge number of members present in the 1st quarter GAD Focal Point System Council Meeting as well as for the fruitful discussion, outputs, resolutions, program, and project collaboration in preparation for the city-wide activities for Women’s Month 2023 as it continues to push for the good being of all for an inclusive change, progress, and development of the city of Zamboanga.
