Zambo City prioritizes barangay leaders’ engagements for development

Zamboanga City (PIA) – The Office of Barangay Affairs in Zamboanga City Government urges barangay leaders and residents to actively engage and participate in projects and programs in their barangays. 

The head of barangay affairs, Rudy Lim, shared an overview of the role and responsibilities of the Barangay Affairs Office in collaborating with the City Government of Zamboanga. During his interview at Kapihan na Zamboanga, he shared their plans and programs to create solutions for the different issues and concerns within the area of responsibility of every barangay in Zamboanga City.

According to Lim, each barangay has different primary concerns, and it’s the barangay’s task to identify which one to prioritize, “the Office of Barangay Affairs ensures that personnel are efficient and effective in their tasks and that will try to address all the barangay concerns,” Lim stated, emphasizing the importance of barangay leaders and constituent’s engagements in addressing their needs and concerns.

The office of barangay affairs, along with the city government of Zamboanga City, continuously creates initiatives and programs to improve the quality of services in the communities in the city. The main task of barangay affairs is to assist the city’s leader in implementing and assessing barangay’s needs and to reach out to barangay officials and residents.

Lim also highlights the crucial role of every barangay in combating and countering crimes within their community; he pressed out the significant part of the Barangay Affairs Office in maintaining security. 

As part of the peace and order council of Zamboanga city, the Barangay Affairs regularly visit the 98 barangays in the city to ensure the implementation of programs. 

Moreover, the barangay affairs office is also responsible for assessing, monitoring, and evaluating each barangay for the Seal of Good Governance. Lim encourages every barangay and barangay leaders to improve and enhance the quality of services they render to their respective constituents, complying with local good governance.
