Zambo City receives ARTA commendation for excellence in ease of doing business

Zamboanga City (PIA) – The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Secretary Ernesto Perez awarded the City Government of Zamboanga, led by Mayor John Dalipe, a plaque of commendation and the seal of Electronic Business One Stop Shop (eBOSS) compliance.

This recognition honors Zamboanga City’s achievement in implementing a fully automated eBOSS, in line with the ARTA, DTI, DICT, and DILG Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) 2021-01, which ensures the provision of quality and efficient services to the public.

Zamboanga City is now the 50th local government unit (LGU) in the country to successfully establish and operate an eBOSS, expected to reduce bureaucratic red tape.

Secretary Perez emphasized that such innovations are crucial for fostering a more competitive and vibrant business environment in the Philippines. “In order for the economy to move forward, we must work together as a nation,” he said.

The commendation was presented during the 2024 Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Summit held in Zamboanga City. The summit, organized by ARTA, gathered various government agencies to highlight and recognize their innovative efforts in improving regulatory management to boost productivity.

Mayor John Dalipe expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the city government’s commitment to continuing its efforts in streamlining business processes and improving service delivery to the public. “This award is a testament to our dedication to making Zamboanga City a business-friendly environment and ensuring that we provide the best possible service to our constituents,” he said.

The 2024 EODB Summit also served as a platform to establish institutional arrangements among all covered agencies and coordinate efforts across the country to enhance public service delivery. The event underscored the importance of collaboration among government bodies to create a more conducive environment for businesses, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic growth.

Zamboanga City’s achievement in fully automating its business registration processes marks a significant milestone in the city’s ongoing efforts to attract more investors and promote local economic development. The eBOSS initiative not only simplifies the process of starting and managing a business but also reduces the time and cost associated with it, benefiting both local entrepreneurs and potential investors.
