PAGADIAN CITY (PIA) – Taking a stand against disinformation, the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Zamboanga Peninsula has ramped up efforts to combat the spread of information disorders, ensuring the public has access to reliable and accurate information.

Brig. Gen. Roel Rodolfo, regional director of PRO Zamboanga Peninsula emphasized the need to address the issue during the recent Kapihan Rehiyon sa Nueve.
“We are relentless in the war against fake news. We continuously monitor the cyberspace community for any fake news, and we assure you that the peddlers will be held accountable,” he said.
He informed the public that the Joint Anti-Fake News Committee (JAFNAC), launched by the Philippine National Police (PNP), is a platform for different government agencies to work together to identify, respond to, and prevent the spread of information disorders that targets government agencies and may lead people to no longer trust the government.
Rodolfo further explained that the police continue to monitor online postings and identify the different sources of fake news. He assured the public that those who consciously disseminate false information will be held accountable.
He urged the public to remain vigilant, validate the information before sharing, and report peddlers of information disorders to the authorities.
