Regional Director Al-Zamir Lipae of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-9 reaffirms their commitment to support the entrepreneurs of Zamboanga Peninsula during the PIA Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas March 12, 2025.
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (PIA) – More than 18,000 micro, small and medium enterprises successfully integrated into e-commerce platforms, giving them opportunities to broaden their markets.
“MSMEs are the backbone of our economy—driving innovation, generating jobs and uplifting communities. By embracing e-commerce, entrepreneurs can reduce start-up costs while significantly expanding their market reach,” Department of Trade and Industry Regional Director Al-Zamir Lipae stated.
Zamboanga Peninsula entrepreneurs now have access to different digital tools such as OneSTore.ph, a nationwide online marketplace catering to Filipino consumers, and Foodpanda, a leading food delivery platform. These digital tools empower businesses to list their products and services online, making them more accessible to a broader customer base.
During the recent Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, DTI-9 said it is accelerating the digital transition of micro, small and medium enterprises, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to thrive in the e-commerce landscape.
By leveraging digital platforms, MSMEs can also reduce operational costs and compete in both national and international markets.
This initiative has been achieved by providing mentoring, coaching and training programs to equip entrepreneurs with essential digital skills and ensuring that MSMEs are strategically positioned for success in the digital marketplace.
“We really need to support our MSMEs,” said Director Lipae, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to empowering local businesses and encouraging people to support local businesses and buy products from the Zamboanga Peninsula.
In 2024, DTI-9 recorded P7.49 million in total product sales, generating more than 8,500 jobs across the region. The Zamboanga Peninsula also achieved P2.95 million in export sales, reinforcing its presence in the global market.
