122 trainees benefit from JobStart program in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY -- A total of 122 trainees managed to complete their training with JobStart Philippines.

This data was highlighted during the recently held Jobstart culmination activity at the Mabe’s Savory Place in the municipality of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga and JobStart Philippines.

This event was attended by Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Divina Lagumbay, representatives from partner companies, trainee-interns, DOLE - Agusan del Sur Field Office head Buhawe Corvera-Correa, and DOLE - Caraga regional director, Atty. Joffrey Suyao.

It was also emphasized that the DOLE regional office through the PESO in the different provinces of Caraga has geared up the conduct of skills training for the youth that also greatly contributed to the high number of employed and hired-on-the-spot applicants during job fairs with domestic and local employers.

In the said occasion, the speakers shared the impact of the Jobstart program in honing the life skills and technical skills of young individuals as well as the importance of providing internship or work experience to improve employability.

Harvey Edulan of Extreme Digital Marketing Services shared the importance of trainees’ work in the ever-changing world of digital market. He also extended his appreciation to DOLE - Caraga for the agency’s partnership with private organizations in preparing the youth for work.

“DOLE has been our constant partner in fulfilling our goals in providing better job opportunities for the Filipino people. We will continue to innovate and initiate programs that will help especially the youth be equipped with knowledge and skills, so they land on the jobs fitted for them,” shared Edulan.

Jobstarter Ronnie Francisco, who recently passed the licensure examination for agriculturists, served as a testament of the program’s achievement not only in inspiring the youth to achieve their dreams but also building character and life skills for career readiness and workplace success.

Also, Dir. Joffrey Suyao expressed appreciation to the provincial government for the continuous support to the programs of DOLE.

“We will definitely continue in 2024 the efforts that we put into the implementation of the JobStart Philippines in our region to help more Caraganons,” said Suyao.

“To our Jobstarters, never stop learning as the world of work is continuously evolving. Invest in acquiring and honing your skill set, to achieve personal goals,” Suyao added.

Jobstart Philippines is a program of DOLE and implemented by an LGU-based Public Employment Service Office (PESO) with the objective of preparing the youth for their future employment by providing them with career coaching, life skills and technical trainings, and internships with employers.

Partnering with the private sector, JobStart helps employers meet their manpower needs with well-prepared, talented, and enthusiastic young men and women.

Republic Act 10869, also known as the “JobStart Philippines Act” was enacted on June 29, 2016 to institutionalize the implementation of the program nationwide. (JPG, PIA-Caraga/ with a report from DOLE-Caraga)
