TESDA calls on SK treasurers to attend mandatory bookkeeping training

CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has called on the appointed treasurers of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) to participate in the mandatory bookkeeping online training from  January 25 to 26.

During the Philippine Information Agency’s “Huruhimangraw sa Panginudto” radio program on Wednesday, January 24, TESDA Northern Samar Provincial Director Zosimo De Asis urged SK treasurers to register online for the mandated bookkeeping training for them to secure a training certificate.

This is in line with the implementation of Republic Act 10742, Section 10, as amended by Republic Act 11768, which provides for the qualification of elected and appointed SK officials, including the SK treasurers.

De Asis said the training certificate, duly signed by the TESDA secretary, is a requirement before an appointee is cleared to take an oath and assume the post.

He added that the basic bookkeeping course will enable SK treasurers to journalize transactions, post transactions, prepare trial balance and financial reports, and review internal control systems.

The course will be a part of the comprehensive bookkeeping NC III program, which will span  37 days and should be completed within a year.

He then said that appointed SK treasurers possessing relevant experience and educational or career backgrounds in accounting and bookkeeping may not need to undergo full training but will undergo comprehensive portfolio assessment and attain certification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

The basic bookkeeping course offered through the TESDA online program can be accessed only with an enrollment key provided by the TESDA regional or provincial offices. The training is exclusively for the SK treasurers appointed and duly endorsed by the municipal government unit.

The online training, which TESDA will conduct, will be attended by participants from Regions 8, 7, and 5. (MMP/TBC/PIA Northern Samar)
