Kadiwa ng Pangulo opens in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY (PIA) — In support of the government's food security agenda and commitment to assisting local farmers, the provincial government of Quezon, in collaboration with various government agencies, recently launched "Kadiwa ng Pangulo sa Kapitolyo" at Perez Park in Lucena City.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo, participated in by local farmers, fisherfolk, and micro, small, and medium enterprises, offered fresh produce such as organically grown vegetables, poultry, meat, and other local products to consumers.

In a statement, Quezon Governor Angelina Tan expressed support for the agricultural initiative of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Quezon, stating that the Kadiwa ng Pangulo bridges the gap between farmers and consumers, fostering community cooperation.

"We believe that Kadiwa ng Pangulo is not just a market; it's a symbol of unity and economic progress. By providing a platform for our local producers, we empower our communities and stimulate the local economy," Tan said.

Tan added that the initiative is aligned with the national agenda to prioritize local products and reduce dependence on imports.

According to the provincial government, Kadiwa ng Pangulo inspires and promotes sustainable agriculture, drive up the support for local businesses, and fosters community resilience.

Provincial agriculturist Ana Clarissa Mariano affirmed the support of the provincial government in the Kadiwa ng Pangulo initiative, emphasizing that agricultural interventions like this help local farmers in different parts of the province to connect with consumers and a wider market.

“Kadiwa ng Pangulo serves as a way for farmers to easily and directly market their products to consumers and they can also purchase these products at a cheaper price than the market price,” Mariano said.

Mariano added that the Quezon provincial government is set to organize more Kadiwa ng Pangulo stalls in the coming days, to drive up additional revenue and support for local farmers.

The provincial agriculturist said: “We invite everyone to visit our Kadiwa stalls. On February 14, we will be having a Festival of Chocolates and on February 15, we will be having another Kadiwa.”

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Quezon was organized in collaboration with the Department of Trade Industry - Quezon, Department of Agriculture, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Quezon's Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo, the government's flagship farm-to-market program, enables farmers to sell directly to consumers by removing market layers, making fresh agricultural and fishery commodities accessible at affordable prices. (RO, PIA Quezon)
