Southern Leyte town gets ambulance, patient transport vehicle

MAASIN CITY (PIA) — The municipality of Malitbog in Southern Leyte received a patient transport vehicle (PTV) from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and an ambulance from the Department of Health (DOH).

The turnover of the PTV from PCSO was held at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City.

Mapasalamaton kaayo ko og dako sa PCSO sa paghatag aning Patient Transport Vehicle, kay kini usa sa akong gihandom para sa among lungsod, kay para makatabang sa ilang panginahanglang medical nga serbisyo," said Malitbog Mayor Antonio S. Lura Sr., who personally received the replica key during the turnover ceremony.

(I am very grateful to the PCSO for giving the Patient Transport Vehicle. I have been longing for one for our town to help with the medical services our people need.)

"This vehicle will enable us to provide timely and safe transportation for patients in need, ensuring they receive the care they deserve," Lura added.

Malitbog was one of 31 local government units (LGUs) nationwide chosen to receive the donation under the PCSO's Medical Transport Donation Program (MTVDP) and the only town in Southern Leyte province to receive one.

The LGU added that the turnover “marked a milestone in the partnership between PCSO and the municipality of Malitbog aimed at enhancing medical transport services for the community, improving access to healthcare services, and promoting the well-being of residents.”

Jesse Cabarrubias, the town's information officer, told the Philippine Information Agency that the ambulance from the DOH had arrived in Malitbog two weeks earlier.

"The two units are now stationed at the Malitbog Rural Health Unit and will be used upon compliance with the regulatory papers," Cabarrubias said.

"When fully operational, this will be the first time Malitbog LGU can access a vehicle for emergency purposes of the residents, courtesy of the two national government agencies that positively responded to Mayor Lura's letter request," Cabarrubias added. (MMP, PIA Southern Leyte)
