TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- The Barangay Habag Fisherfolk Association (BAHAFFA) in Lanuza, Surigao del Sur received a check amounting to P150,000 under the "Magnegosyo Ta Day” program of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on March 21.
The livelihood assistance aims to help and improve the fishing engagements of the 31 members of the BAHAFFA.The association is the first beneficiary of the program in the Caraga region.

BAHAFFA president Danilo Orillaneda said, “Una sa tanan, ang pag-aproba sa OVP nga maka avail og livelihood program ang amo grupo, dako na sa amo asosasyon na tabang ang maong kantidad, nga wala namo damha nga mahatagan og pagtagad sa maong buhatan.”
[First of all, the BAHAFFA expressed gratitude to the OVP for approving our request for livelihood assistance. The amount is already a big help to the association and we did not expect the attention given to us].
Feljun Fuentes, treasurer of the association, also showed his appreciation, saying, "Kang Vice President Sara Duterte, daghan kaayong salamat nga naka avail kami sa inyong livelihood program nga Magnegosyo Ta Day. Para sa among asosasyon, dako na ine na tabang, ilabina sa mga miyembro. Maningkamot kami nga ang maong kantidad among mapalambo nga modako, arun makatabang sa among pang-adlaw-adlaw nga panginabuhian, sulbad sa kalisod nga sama namong mga gagmay nga mananagat.”

We will try to use and make the money grow to help us in our daily livelihood and solve the challenges faced by small fisherfolk like us.)
During the interview with Nida Grace P. Barcena, the PIA Information Center Manager of Surigao del Sur, officials from the Barangay Habag Fisherfolk Association (BAHAFFA) expressed their joy and appreciation to the Office of the Vice President for selecting their group as the inaugural beneficiary in the Caraga Region to receive the livelihood grant.(Photo of PIA-SDS)
Both officers hope that the MTD program will continue to help those organizations that are most in need of survival.
OVP-Surigao del Sur satellite office chief Rolmar Basalan led the turnover of the livelihood assistance grant to BAHAFFA.
“The Magnegosyo Ta Day” is designed to assist sectors and organizations that belong to the bottom part of society so they can begin with their livelihood projects. This will empower the members and enable the organizations and associations to become financially independent in the future,” Basalan shared.
“This program will definitely stimulate economic activity, generate employment, and spur economic growth,” he said.
“To all of you, this is not much; we are hoping that this will help your organization financially so that it can grow and become self-reliant in the near future,” the chief added.
On top of the livelihood assistance, the OVP satellite office in Tandag City also offers medical and burial assistance to marginalized communities. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
