COTABATO CITY (PIA) -- Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim has urged Muslims in the region to invoke kindness and compassion even beyond the celebration of Eid'l Fitr or the feast of Ramadan.

He also expressed hope that the celebration will enhance peace, harmony, and development in the region.

“Let this joyous occasion remind us of the importance of strengthening our family bonds and fostering peace, harmony, and development throughout Bangsamoro and the country,” Ebrahim said in his message for the occasion.

Ebrahim went on to encourage BARMM constituents to continue to practice “kindness, generosity, and compassion toward families, friends, and community members” not only during Ramadan but every day.

“In the midst of our celebration, let us not forget those who are less fortunate among us; let us open our hearts and hands to include them in our celebration, embodying the essence of Eid as a time of collective celebration and sharing,” he stressed.

During the Eid’l Fitr congregational prayer held in this city, the official also urged Bangsamoro people to embrace the teachings of Ramadan.

The celebration brought Muslims from different parts of the Bangsamoro region, including mainland and island provinces, to pray and give thanks for all the blessings provided by the Almighty.

“Even though Eid marks the end of Ramadan, may we continue to practice and demonstrate the ideals and teachings that have guided us throughout this month,” Ebrahim pointed out.

He further emphasized that Eid is inclusive for all, as the essence of the celebration includes everyone, including marginalized individuals in society.

“As we lift our hands in prayer, let us implore the guidance and blessings of the Almighty Allah to accept our fasts and prayers and bless the Bangsamoro homeland and its people,” the chief minister added.

Eid’l Fitr, which translates to the “Feast of the Breaking of the Fast,” is a special occasion for Muslims that concludes the month-long Ramadan worldwide.

It is also one of Islam's most important holidays, heralding the arrival of Eid'l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, another significant Islamic event that celebrates the end of the Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca performed by Muslims every year. (LTB - PIA Cotabato City)
