Hundreds of thousands of Filipinos are expected to converge at Quirino Grandstand in Manila on January 28 for the momentous "Bagong Pilipinas" kick-off rally to be attended by no less than President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

While excitement is high, adequate preparation is key to ensure a smooth, secure experience.

Eulalia De Los Santos, a long-time nurse at the Philippine Information Agency, shares essential health and safety pointers for rally participants:

Carry protective gear

Wear a face mask securely, ideally doubled up with N95. This prevents virus transmission in crowded settings.
Bring an umbrella for sun and unexpected rain.

Pack a Health Kit

Medicines for headaches, nausea, diarrhea can relieve minor ailments. Antihistamines help with allergies.
Always bring water to stay hydrated and avoid heat stress. Pack extra clothes and shoes in case you get soaked.

Be ready with food

Bring light snacks like biscuits or candies to boost energy when needed. Identify food carts or stores nearby in case you need to buy something.

Know the first aid stations

Note first aid station locations in case of any accidents or unwellness. Know where to access medical assistance promptly. Don't hesitate to approach volunteers or medical personnel on duty.

Stay calm

Avoid panic in case of commotions - it can be deadly in crowds. If bringing kids, hold their hand firmly at all times. Don't let go and it would be better if they have with them some form of identification with contact details.

However, if you don't want to experience the hassle of commuting, fear not because the rally will be streamed online to engage wider audiences beyond the City of Manila.

"Bagong Pilipinas" is more than a campaign; it is a revolution igniting hope and inspiration to participate in building a better Philippines through collective action.

This rally will be a testament to that unity, a collective planting of seeds that promises a bountiful harvest of progress in the years to come. (PIA-NCR)
