‘NaKaPLan’: Sibugay’s newest adventure trove

Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) - The Naga-Kabasalan Protected Landscape (NaKaPLan) is emerging as the latest natural treasure in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

This 5,505.45-hectare protected area in Zamboanga Sibugay, which is spread across the municipalities of Naga and Kabasalan, promises to be exciting for both nature lovers and thrill-seekers.

Officially designated a protected area following the enactment of Republic Act 11686 on April 8, 2022, NaKaPLan distinguishes itself with its exceptional karst landscape, boasting an array of caves and a unique and delicate ecosystem, setting the stage for a one-of-a-kind natural spectacle.

NaKaPLan offers thrill-seekers the experience of spelunking through its fascinating caves. One can fully immerse in the splendor of NaKaPLan's subterranean wonders by visiting the class II Dao Cave and the Underground Tipan Cave.

Failure to obtain permission may result in penalties under RA 9072, the National Caves and Cave Resources Management and Protection Act; RA 11038, the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018; and RA 11686, the Naga-Kabasalan Protected Landscape Act of 2022.
