The commemoration of Constitution Day every February 2 holds deep significance for Filipinos. It marks the ratification of the 1987 Constitution, which restored democracy in the Philippines. This constitution remains the fundamental law of the land to this day.

Celebrating Constitution Day reminds Filipinos of the long struggle and sacrifices made to achieve democracy. The People Power Revolution of 1986 was a pivotal moment when millions of Filipinos peacefully gathered to effect change.

This triumph of the people led to the drafting of a new constitution founded on principles of justice, freedom, sovereignty, and human rights.

The 1987 Constitution is a symbol of victory for Filipinos and their unwavering commitment to democracy.

Its ratification gave the nation a fresh start with safeguards to maintain the democratic process.

Honoring this historic document on Constitution Day promotes civic participation, energizes people to be vigilant in defending their rights and liberties, and enables reflection on the nation's democratic gains as well as aspirations for the future.

For Filipinos, celebrating Constitution Day is celebrating freedom and people power. Happy Constitution Day! (PIA-NCR)
