This prestigious award is also in cooperation with the Japan Institute of Design Promotion. The award has been instrumental in fostering a culture of design excellence deeply rooted in “malasakit”, the Filipino value of compassion.

Embracing the essence of malasakit, the competition transcends conventional notions of design, placing a profound emphasis on the impact and context of creations. It serves as an inspiration for designers, creators, and businesses, guiding them towards solutions that not only excel in form and function but also exhibit a genuine concern for society, economy, and the environment.

This year, the Good Design Award Philippines unveils an array of categories designed to showcase the breadth and depth of design excellence infused with compassion. From architecture and interiors to products and services, each category provides a platform for innovators to demonstrate their commitment to creating meaningful change. The categories include:

  • Object Making - object designs that are tangible and can be utilized in everyday life such as home furniture and decor, textiles, apparel and clothing.
  • Place Making - places or environments designed innovatively for the improvement of people’s everyday lives such as architecture & interior design.
