BUENAVISTA, Marinduque (PIA) -- The municipality of Buenavista, through the initiative of Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) continues to promote environmental protection and conservation by implementing numerous programs, beneficial to the people and its community.
These environmental practices include public market and riverbank clean-up, collection and disposal of hazardous waste, declogging of canals and main thoroughfares, prohibition of improper waste disposal, daily hakot basura program, charcoal briquettes making, and reusing of marine driftwoods.
The Buenavista Local Government Unit (LGU) also promotes activities beneficial to the citizen’s livelihood such as demo farm activities, MENRO veggie garden, coco peat usage, reusing of egg shells as a fertilizer and recycling of plastic bottles to be used in hydrophonic planting.
This commitment shown by the LGU is in pursuant to the Republic Act No. 9512, also known as the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008, which emphasizes the importance of environmental education in building a safe and sustainable community.
Meanwhile, the active participation of the residents and eco-warriors of Buenavista has greatly contributed to the accomplishments of these activities. (RAMJR/CDSN/ PIA Mimaropa - Marinduque)
