Entrepreneur elevates Abra miki to healthy flavors

(PIA) – Pansit miki is a certified Abra dish that has become part of the branding of the province.  In Lagangilang, Abra, an entrepreneur elevated this traditional noodle to healthy options.

Myrna Claustro has been making miki noodles since 2000. From the plain miki flavors, she now sells five more variations including malunggay, squash, carrots, saluyot (jute leaves), and eggplant.

“Nagaramid nak ti miki nga awan nangisursuro kanyak then nagpatulong nak ti DTI(Department of Trade and Industry), isuda ti nag-improve ti aramid ko. Nagpatulong nak metlaeng ti DOST(Department of Science and Technology),” she said.

Claustro makes her noodle products from scratch. She said that patience is key in making quality miki noodles.

She shared that flour is first mixed with ingredients such as the seasoning to create the dough, which is then expertly rolled out and cut it into thin strips. This tedious process results to the unique shape and  nice texture of the noodles.
