From humble beginnings to printing powerhouse

Dagupan City bustles with activity, but amid the digital revolution, a small printing shop stands out – Net Atlas Printers Plus.

Their story is an inspiring testament to the power of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in propelling local businesses forward.

The journey began modestly.

Founded by Mr. Nelson Morales and Ms. Sheryl Morales, Net Atlas Printers Plus started as a simple internet cafe in Barangay Bonuan Gueset.

They catered to students and professionals by offering computers for rent, gaming, and basic printing services.

However, the Morales couple were keen observers.

They recognized the evolving needs of their customers and, with a bold move, pivoted their focus towards printing.

Computer rentals gradually phased out as printing services took center stage.

However, challenges arose as demand for larger print jobs grew.

Advanced equipment was needed to keep up.

Embracing their entrepreneurial spirit, the Morales embarked on a quest for innovation.

This led them to a valuable ally – the Department of Science and Technology-Region 1 (DOST-1), specifically the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO)-Pangasinan.

Through DOST's Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), Net Atlas Printers Plus received a state-of-the-art LED UV print and cut inkjet printer.

This wasn't just an upgrade; it was a revolution.

The new technology allowed them to produce high-quality, durable prints, setting a new standard in the Dagupan printing industry.

SETUP, a nationwide program, empowers small and medium enterprises (SMEs) like Net Atlas Printers Plus.

It provides financial assistance for acquiring technological advancements, boosting productivity and competitiveness.

From technical guidance to market suggestions, SETUP acts as a partner throughout an SME's growth journey.

Reflecting on the impact, Mr. Nelson expressed deep gratitude to DOST-1's PSTO-Pangasinan.

He highlighted the agency's commitment to collaboration and how technology, when combined with the right support, can propel businesses forward.

Sheryl Morales echoed her husband's sentiments, highlighting the invaluable role of PSTO-Pangasinan.

She particularly appreciated their ongoing guidance, "They don't just give you the machine; they ensure you can use it effectively. They even suggest potential markets! That's what truly impressed us about DOST. They're with you every step of the way, from the beginning to where we are now in this business."

Under the leadership of Arnold Santos, the provincial director of PSTO-Pangasinan, Net Atlas Printers Plus thrived.

They successfully graduated from the SETUP program in November 2023.

However, the relationship didn't end there.

The PSTO team continues to check in, offering assistance and exploring potential future partnerships.

Net Atlas Printers Plus isn't just about commercial success.

They are deeply rooted in their community.

They give back through initiatives like providing complimentary printed materials.

This social responsibility reflects their commitment to the city that helped them flourish.

The impact extends beyond the bottom line.

With advanced technology, tasks are more manageable, leading to increased efficiency and a significant boost in employee morale.

Net Atlas Printers Plus stands as a shining example of the transformative power of STI.

Their unwavering dedication to excellence and commitment to both innovation and community pave the way for a bright future in the printing industry.

As Morales proudly states, "Thank you to DOST for the help. With this machine and their support, I believe we've become one of the best printing shops here in Dagupan." (JCR/AMB/PIA Region 1)
