DIFFUN, Quirino (PIA) - - Some 10 aspiring and existing young entrepreneurs from the province recently completed the three-day training workshop entitled Youth Entrepreneurship Program: Be Your Own Boss (Yep! BYOB) at QSU Diffun Training Hall.

The Yep! BYOB is a program of the Department of Trade and Industry under the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Program, a five-year (2020-2025) activity to promote innovative work-based learning and job readiness skills for the youth.

The YEP is focused on addressing the country’s young demographics to become productive individuals through entrepreneurship by offering them a comprehensive package of interventions.

It also seeks to support the government’s growth agenda to broaden economic development gains, address inequality, and uplift the standard of life of Filipinos, particularly the youth.

DTI Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz Dy said the DTI has been tasked to implement BYOB, an entrepreneurship skills workshop which aims to equip youth with foundational business skills and an entrepreneurial mindset needed for successful self-employment.

The young entrepreneurs participated in workshops which consist of series of mentoring sessions with a total of 18 module topics on entrepreneurship and business management that enabled them to create, design, and present their business plans and business models.

The outputs during the workshop were presented to the pool of panelists with the assistance of the regional and provincial YEP Coordinators and the Negosyo Center Business Counselors.

“This workshop is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among the youth. Through this, we are empowering young individuals with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in their chosen business paths or in the world of self-employment,” Dy said. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
