Antiqueña ‘Hall of Fame Awardee’ in PIA’s best IO search

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Office 6 recently named an Antiqueña as one of the “Hall of Fame Awardees” in the 2023 Search for Best Performing Information Officers (IO).

Information Officer Liza Joyce Quanico-Songcayawon of PhilHealth-Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) Antique, on December 21, 2023, received her award from PIA executive officials Director-General Jose Torres, Jr., Deputy Director-General Katherine Chloe De Castro, and Regional Head Cheryl Amor.

In her acceptance speech during the Western Visayas Information Officers' Year-End Conference and Awards 2023 held at Citadines Amigo Iloilo, Songcayawon underscored the relevance of communication work to ensure that PhilHealth members are aware of the public health benefits they are entitled to.

Songcayawon, as information officer, leads the information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns in government and private institutions, and various localities in the province, including those considered Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).

PhilHealth Antique Information Officer Liza Joyce Songcayawon is all smiles as she delivers her acceptance speech on behalf of fellow Best Performing Information Officers-Hall of Fame Awardees for 2023.

“Being designated as IO is exciting and self-rewarding. I attend to different invitations from our stakeholders, inform them about PhilHealth’s latest policies, and cater to their queries. I am given the chance to meet our members- government and private employees, OFWs, tricycle drivers, market vendors, senior citizens, PWDs, rebel returnees; and conduct orientation regarding their benefits,” she noted.

Songcayawon, in July 2023, presents to Municipal Health Officers (MHO), Municipal Accountants, and Municipal Finance Committees from across the province updates on the outpatient benefit package "PhilHealth Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulTa)."

Songacayawon added that being at the frontline of her office always requires her best, hence, the need for her to demonstrate high levels of energy and expertise when dealing with client members, particularly in explaining new policies and benefits such as the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulTa).

On behalf of fellow awardees, she then urged information officers (IOs) across the region to rise amid challenges and continue becoming gateways of accurate and truthful information that the public can use to alleviate their lives and thereafter contribute to nation-building.

Songcayawon expressed her gratitude to everyone, especially her PhilHealth Antique colleagues, whom she shared this journey with, and dedicated this prestigious recognition to her family who inspires her to be the best version of herself every day.
