PCG mobilizes comprehensive security measures for Traslación

QUEZON CITTY (PIA) -- In preparation for the upcoming Traslación on January 9, 2024, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) under the guidance of CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan is actively collaborating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure the event's security and safety.

The PCG has strategically directed the Coast Guard District NCR - Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL) to extend support to the PNP in executing security operations throughout the event. Notably, Coast Guard K9 units are slated to conduct thorough paneling at key locations, including the Quirino Grandstand, Jones Bridge, and Quiapo Church.

To strengthen crowd management efforts, PCG personnel will join forces with security units, intensifying patrols along the Pasig River and Manila Bay, specifically behind the Quirino Grandstand. Utilizing Coast Guard floating assets, these patrols aim to ensure a secure perimeter around the area.

Further, in readiness for any emergency, the PCG will deploy specialized medical teams equipped to conduct mass evacuations utilizing Pasig River and Manila Bay if required during the procession.

In a statement, CG Admiral Gavan emphasized the PCG's dedication to collaborate with the PNP and religious organizers to facilitate a successful, secure, and harmonious observance of the Traslación, underscoring the significance of this revered Roman Catholic tradition. (PIA-NCR)
