PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- District I Dir. Maylene Ballares assumed the chairmanship of the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO), following an election held during the board’s regular meeting on Friday, January 5.

The conduct of the election was after Dir. Efren Abejo of District V stepped down as chairperson due to health reasons, which PALECO did not specify on its advisory.

Information officer Maria Janelle Rebusada said that the board convenes and conducts election 10 days after the annual general assembly meeting (AGAM) under Section 5, Article IV of PALECO by-laws.

“10 days after AGAM, mag-convene sila to elect chair and vice chair, then appoint secretary and treasurer,” Rebusada said in a message.

Ballares’ district covers the Puerto Princesa población area from Barangay Pag-asa to Bancao-Bancao.

Her last chairmanship was on October 7, 2022, and she was re-elected as one of the directors on January 21, 2023. (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
